Quality Control Editor (Remote)

Are you an academic who's looking to make a broader impact in science? Are you interested in branching out across scientific fields as part of a dynamic and quickly growing company? You can make a major impact on a daily basis as part of our team! As former researchers, we understand the importance of communicating research and results to a global audience, and we help researchers communicate their findings more quickly and thus accelerate the pace of discovery.

Research Square is a mission-driven business focused on making research communication faster, fairer, and more useful. Through language editing, academic translation, and our comprehensive suite of author services, we are proud to have supported over half a million manuscripts from researchers in 186 countries since our founding in 2004.

We currently have challenging opportunities for highly motivated individuals to fill the role of Quality Control Editor (QCE). QCEs contribute to researchers' success by ensuring consistent, high-quality language editing for every manuscript that we return to our customers.

*We are currently accepting applications for job openings that will start beginning in early 2019.

QCEs have expert knowledge of our internal quality standards and demonstrate versatility in diverse subject areas. They apply their intellectual versatility and academic experience across all disciplines, with our most common fields being clinical, physical, and life sciences. They are independent, intelligent, adaptable, and team-oriented. QCEs are service-focused, with high levels of personal accountability and excellent time management skills. Our remote team is highly interactive and supportive, but QCEs also work for long periods of time independently.

What do QCEs do?

  • Provide quality control for manuscripts edited by contract editors via targeted, triage-style language editing
  • Work from home (or anywhere with reliable internet), with the option to work from our open office in vibrant downtown Durham, NC
  • Use their knowledge of our operations and their individual strengths to contribute to business-wide needs, including service delivery analyses, quality audits, and cross-divisional special projects
