Quality Control Editor

AJE works with contractors who are experts in their fields to provide field-specific language editing.  We currently have challenging opportunities for highly motivated individuals to fill the role of Quality Control Editor (QCE). QCEs contribute to researchers' success by ensuring high-quality language editing in every manuscript that we return to our customers, serving as the link between the contractors’ work and the final, edited product.

QCEs have expert knowledge of our internal quality standards and demonstrate versatility in subject area. They are independent, intelligent, adaptable, and team-oriented. QCEs are service-focused, with high levels of personal accountability and excellent time management skills.

Job responsibilities

• Provide quality control for manuscripts edited by contract editors
• Answer editor questions and provide support for technical and editing questions
• Match customer manuscripts with contract editors in the relevant field
• Based on business needs and individual strengths, participate in projects such as service delivery analyses, quality audits, and cross-divisional special projects

Skills & Requirements

• Advanced degree in science; PhD preferred
• Demonstrated mastery of language editing in accordance with accepted publication standards
• Ability to master the conventions of diverse fields
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills
• Ability to thrive in both collaborative and autonomous environments
• Flexibility and adaptability in the face of change
• High levels of personal accountability and excellent time management skills
• Curious, self-motivated and proactive by nature
